CGI Merchant Group, a private equity asset management firm, attracted quite the audience to the recent groundbreaking ceremony at the new 1100 Biscayne Blvd. property.

Celebrating the beginning of construction for what will soon become home to the first U.S. location of the ME Miami brand by Meliá Hotels International and renowned steakhouse, STK Rebel, CGI was joined by Miami City officials, Mayor Tomás Regalado and Commissioner Francis Suarez.

As proud partners of the Miami Heat, the CGI team was joined by the Heat dancers and NBA champions, Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers and Luol Deng, in addition to Heat legend Alonzo Mourning.

Representatives from CGI, Meliá International and STK Rebel took the stage to share details on the luxury renovation project including elements of the iconic resort hotel chain and restaurant, and the worldwide impact they have. Regalado concluded the presentation with a few words emphasizing his excitement and anticipation for the final product due to open this Fall.

The property is currently undergoing a $21 million renovation which, once complete, will boast 129 renovated rooms, two rooftop pool areas and a state-of-the-art spa facility. With more than 5,000 square feet of renovated space, the transformation into dynamic food and beverage facilities with dining and event spaces will reflect the eccentric, yet luxurious amenities reflective of the ME by Meliá brand.

From Coral Gables to Downtown Miami, CGI is transforming the landscape of South Florida real estate. Founded by Raoul Thomas in 2006, CGI is experiencing immense growth managing more than $400 million in capital from diverse, high-net worth individuals. Thomas is at the forefront of an urban renaissance for the community including properties like 55 Miracle Mile (home to Tarpon Bend and Cibo Wine Bar).
